The 10/22 Finger Groove Sporter Project Part 2

The next step is to polish the receiver and barrel. The receiver came "in the white", meaning is was bare steel.
The top was rough cast, so it will need the most work.






and finally a 600 grit finish


The sides had been machined flat, but still had the machine marks, so I started with 100 grit sandpaper, then 150, 220, 280, 320 then 400 grit.




I then stepped it up to 600, 800, 1200, 1500, 2000, 2500, 3000, 4000 finishing with 5000 grit. Then I give the barrel the same treatment
