We'll start this with some pictures of factory sling swivel mounts used on the Ruger 10/22s by the factory, then show you some custom options.
On the Finger Groove Sporter model, Ruger used some custom flat bar swivels, the front one was mounted to a inletted mount that resembled a Mauser K98 mount
The rear used the same flat bar sling loop, but it was attached to a threaded stud
The International model used a Mannlicher style front, the rear was the same as the Sporter Finger Groove
Midway USA will sell you the loop and escutcheons if you wish to install one for yourself. This would not fit a standard carbine stock without removing a lot of material. The Mannlicher stocks are much thinner at the point where they are attached.
I found this set on ebay, although I don't know that I have ever seen these installed on a 10/22, they are identical to the ones on the Finger Groove Sporter except the front fits around the outside of the barrel band, they could have originally been for a 44 Carbine model, but the barrel bands are different, and this barrel band is definitely for the 10/22.
One last factory option is to get one of the new factory synthetic stocks with the cast in sling mounts.
Custom options
When it comes to the rear swivel you have more options that you might think.
The standard is to use a swivel stud, this stud has wood threads, you simply drill the correct size hole and thread it in, if buying a kit like the one below, you want to use the longer on in the butt stock.
You could opt for a non-QD style sling mount, Ruger and other manufacturers used these in the past
The ones below mimic the look of the factory Ruger ones
You could choose to insert a threaded anchor, this is what you would need to do for a synthetic stock, drill the hole, use epoxy to install the threaded insert, then thread in your stud.
The above option also applies to this style of QD sling mounts
Another option might be to use an old military sling mount (from an SMLE in this case ) and inlet in into your stock like I did on my 10/22 Spencer Rifle project
This one is from a Mauser
There are also no drill options like this one from Ultimate Gun Sling
Or this one from The Brass Stacker
The Wilderness can set you up with one of these Giles Slings, they fit round the butt stock in the rear and through the barrel band in the front
Moving to the front, we have even more options:
There is the Uncle Mike's kit which includes a sling mount that fits between your barrel band gap, probably the cleanest and easiest installation. Of course the back is the standard threaded stud
I used this kit on my 10/22 Hoplophobe project
Equally as easy and perhaps a more elegant solution is the sling mount from The Brass Stacker. It mounts through the barrel band bolt, but on the outside of the band
Almost as easy is swapping out your factory barrel band for one of these from John Masen, it has two sling loops and comes with the rear stud/loop
Another clean option is this Pro-Mag barrel band, it includes a sling loop, or you can use the picatinny rail to mount a QD attachment point.
Similar to the one above, this replacement barrel band from Wolf Hill Trading Co. has three picatinny rails so you can mount the QD mount wherever you wish
QD sling picatinny mount
Another barrel band that includes a hole for a QD sling swivel
This ebay seller is peddling his custom sling mount that they print on 3D printer
AlphaRubicon swapped out the barrel band screw for a swivel stud
As mentioned above the Giles Sling available from The Wilderness, can be looped inside your barrel band
You could also just install a threaded stud in the front of the stock, The kits normally come with a wood thread and a machine threaded one with the anchor nut.
You could mount it ahead of the barrel band, but your would not be able to remove the barrel band without first removing the swivel stud. This is not a concern if you plan on eliminating the barrel band
Or behind the barrel band, the more preferred location
Here is an odd one, this one uses a sling mount that is designed for a lever action magazine tube, the diameters of a 44 or 45 lever action magazine and the 10/22 barrel are probably close enough to work
The "modular" stocks used on the 10/22 collector's series and some take downs uses a wood screw style sling swivel in the fore end and a machine screw type at the rear which retains the length of pull module. There are also some distributor exclusives with M1 Carbine style stocks and sling mounts
