Projects Update 2024

I know many of you follow this blog strictly for the restoration/refinishing projects and I have to apologize for the lack of those articles the last couple of years.

I moved to Arizona in 2021 and immediately began construction on a pool, pool cabana and now a shop. The shop is almost complete.

Soon I will have an air conditioned/heated work loft with plenty of bench space to work on guns. The shop is about 2000 sq ft, with a 300 sq ft work loft and tool storage beneath.

I did get some projects started and collected parts for others.

This year I did re-flock the inside of the S&W M29 presentation case

I have the wood finished and almost have Uncle Mike's Winchester model 94 ready for bluing

as well as my Winchester model 74

I found a grip frame for my 50th Anniversary Mark II

Still waiting is the Savage Stevens model 83

The Marlin model 1894

My J.C. Higgins model 36....which I found a VG condition one at a gun show for just $100, had to resist the temptation to buy it

My Hi-Standard model B

My Meriden Arms model 15

My Remington model 11-48 shotgun

I am still looking for a reasonably priced replacement Squirrell stock for my Marlin model 60.

I also want to tune up my custom Marlin model 70P, replace the springs with some MCARBO units and some polishing of the internals.

and my several 10/22 projects left to wrap up, I have a pirate Charger that I want to build

The lightweight 10/22 project

The zombie/post apocalypse project, using a homemade receiver with Ruger "trunnions"

My "Frankenstrat" project

My Kentucky 10/22 rifle (not my picture)

I have a couple of other 10/22 stock projects that I have yet to reveal.....as well as a couple of home-made shotguns and pistols I plan to build.

As mentioned before, I would like to build a short-barreled Walker/Dragoon revolver.
Start with a 3rd model Dragoon from Uberti

Cut the barrel at the end of the frame and remove the loading bar, then install a 45 Colt conversion cylinder kit from Krist Konverter

then dove tail a brass front sight

it would look something like this:

Lastly, I plan on making more gun cases, both traditional and coffin style.
I have built a few in the past, but now I will have a shop and the proper tools.
