Home Built 10/22 receivers

 Building a gun from scratch is one freedom we still enjoy here in America, it is perfectly legal to build a gun from scratch, as long as you don't do it with the intent to sell it or perform the work for someone else without 1st obtaining a manufacturing license.


This post is about those people who decided to make their own receivers from scratch.

There have been quite a few lately that have crafted their receivers on a 3D Printer.

























Here is one made like the Zip Gun




This one was made of cast aluminum





Some choose craft their receivers from raw material like brass, see the whole story on rimfirecentral






The one below is the creation of Sebastian Unger from Austria, he wanted to create a 10/22 receiver that would allow for cleaning without completely taking the rifle apart, see more here


















This one is from the Home gunsmith forum, he started with some 1.25" square steel tubing


The builder machined front and rear trunnions (like an Kalashnikov rifle)




The finished product



He added a second take down screw, making the assembly rock solid
