Building a gun from scratch is one freedom we still enjoy here in America, it is perfectly legal to build a gun from scratch, as long as you don't do it with the intent to sell it or perform the work for someone else without 1st obtaining a manufacturing license.
This post is about those people who decided to make their own receivers from scratch.
There have been quite a few lately that have crafted their receivers on a 3D Printer.
Some choose craft their receivers from raw material like brass, see the whole story on rimfirecentral
This one is from the Home gunsmith forum, he started with some 1.25" square steel tubing
The builder machined front and rear trunnions (like an Kalashnikov rifle)
The finished product
He added a second take down screw, making the assembly rock solid
