The whole reason I started this blog was to try to inspire others the way that I was inspired.
This is the month of the 10/22 and one of the easiest and least expensive DIY mods is working over the stock. In the post below I have assembled a few examples.
One of my mentors of sorts is a guy from the Rimfire Central forum by the name of Hipshot.
I could have filled this entire post just with Hipshot's work, see a compendium of his work here.
This first one is a tactical build
And my homage to the design....see the build here and here
Another Hipshot design, this one modeled after the late 19th century calvary carbines
and my recreation of the stock, I made a few changes and some additions. See the completion of my build here
Another take on the 19th century carbine, this one from a Rimfire Central Forum member named Wolfen, he calls it "Shadow Hunter", see more here
Some more of Hipshot's handiwork
Hipshot called this one the Morphosis and after seeing it, I wanted to build one for myself
Building my version of Hipshot's Morphosis above, was my most ambitious project yet, I named her Ava, after Ava Lord (Sin City) see the final post on the build here
A home built bull pup, details can be found here
Here is a Ruger factory synthetic stock that was modified with an A2 AR grip, see the details here
I wanted to build a lighter weight and shorter stock for my daughter's "Girly Rifle", see the details on this build here
The stock that initially inspired me
This one was featured in my post 10/22 Tribute Guns, a tribute to the American Plains Rifle
Another Hipshot creation, he calls this one the "JoeBobber", it is designed for younger/smaller shooters. The curved butt plate was made from Kydex.
This guy not only built his own stock, but also the receiver and other parts, see his work on the Rimfire Central Forum
This one inspired my current 10/22 build, a guy by the name of Parshooter built this 10/22 SBR, see more here
Using parts from a Com-Block AK, this guy built a cool SBR
Here is a pistol from Holloway's Garage
Another Hipshot creation, this one designed to mimic the look of an 18th century pirate pistol
A couple of target stocks made from modified Ruger factory units, details available here
Another pirate pistol build
More from the Rimfire Central forum
This one has some nice touches, holes cut to reduce weight, brushed aluminum plates on the butt and forend tip and a nice green stain, more here
This owner tapered and thinned the forend and removed weight by drilling some holes, something I will try on my next youth stock
Another one with a "window" in the butt stock
I hope these ideas have inspired you to create something unique!
