Teddy's Guns

I was originally going to write a blog post about the guns owned by our former Presidents, but since that has already been covered I decided to pen a post just about Teddy Roosevelt's guns.
And today being anniversary of Teddy's death (Jan 6, 1919), I decided today was a good time to post this.

He was an avid hunter, shooter and collector. Here are just a few weapons with provenance to Teddy:

This deluxe 1886 Winchester resides at the National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, Virginia. As with most of Teddy's guns it was ordered with custom touches.

Another gun currently in the National Firearms Museum is this FN model 1900 in 32 ACP. According to sources within the Roosevelt family Teddy kept this gun in his nightstand during his time as President in the White House.

This stocked Colt military model 1902 was a gift from the President of Colt to Teddy, you can see his initials inlaid in gold on the slide.

This 1873 Winchester was a gift from a friend of Teddy's, Lucille Mullhall was an actor in the Buffalo Bill Cody Wild West Show
. She had two of these guns made, this one has TR's initials engraved on it. The gun sold at auction in 2012 for $22,500.

This beautiful side by side shotgun was made by A.H. Fox accompanied Teddy and his son Kermit on their 1908/1909 African Safari.

This custom engraved Colt Single Action Army Calvary model resides at the Autry Museum in Los Angeles. The grip panels are Ivory and sport his initials and a buffalo head, the ejector rod housing, cylinder and hammer were once gold plated (the rest of the gun was nickle plated) while the trigger was nitre blued.
