PSA: Don't mix up your ammo

 This is a story about a 1914 vintage Ithaca side by side 12-gauge shotgun, the owner bought it to hunt with. He was warned to only used low pressure ammunition in it, and he did buy some of that ammo.

He went out to go hunting and put on his ammo pouch which was already full of 3" magnum loads, instinctively he reached for the pouch and pulled out two shells, without looking at them and put them in the open breech.

When he fired the first round, everything seemed hunky dory, then the second round went off and he knew something was wrong. The breech would not open, and he noticed cracks on both sides of the frame.

After he got home, he and a friend was able to get the gun open and take a better look at the damage. The gun is now going to end up as a mantel piece/wall hanger or be parted out.

So, remember folks, always double check the ammo you are loading into your gun!

We swung by the Nemo Arms booth to see what they had on display and the new Mongoose pistol in 10mm caught our attention, it takes Glock mags and is now on my want list.

Another pistol/SBR on my want list is the long awaited 9mm "folding defensive platform" from ZEV. Another joint venture with Magpul. It comes in an SBR format and as a pistol.

The price we were quoted sounded very reasonable (although, now I don't remember exactly the price, so I won't repeat it). Shipping should start this spring.

Tucked away in the back of the lower floor was this safe manufacturer from Australia. Lokaway designed a new locking mechanism that slides the door behind the frame making it impossible to pry open. Prices were very reasonable.

PTR was in attendance, showing their suppressors and defensive weapons.

Speaking of suppressors, they are becoming ubiquitous, which is driving innovation and lower prices, Sonicore had their line of hybrid modular suppressors on display.

Palmetto State Armory continues to expand its H&R line of firearms, I have yet to see any of the old H&R designs, maybe they just wanted the name?

The Kahr Firearms booth was loaded with Desert Eagles, they now have a blue Cerakote version.

Comp Mags had a small booth showing their "commie state" compliance (I think their company name comes from a portmanteau of Compliance and Magazine). I am usually not a fan of capitulation, but the owner did make some good points.

I always stop by the Savior booth, they give away free badge holders and they always have the best displays.

Although not strictly gun related, we thought this would be worth mention, Mark37.com is leading the digital privacy revolution, they offer phones that have zero spy ware, they have apps for nearly every purpose and none of them collect data or track you. Prices for the phones (iPhone, Samsung & Google) were comparable to what most carriers sell them for.

There were many others that we stopped and talked to, we can't possibly cover all of them.

How about a 3D printed rotary Gatling Gun? it is belt fed, uses mostly off the shelf AR-15 parts and can be put together for around $1K
