Firearm Factory of the Month: Security Industries of America

Today we look at a small gun making firm with an odd name. My only guess is that the owners hoped to disguise the business with the "security" name. I can attest to the difficulties of finding any information on this brand as the word security brings up everything but this company.

Info on the company and its founders is not easy to come by. The best that I could come up with was the company began manufacturing revolvers in 1973.

The initial offering was a stainless, short barreled, fixed sight, 5 shot 38 Special revolver meant to compete with the S&W J frame.

In 1975 they introduced a 357 Magnum version which was discontinued in 1977. By 1978 the company was out of business.

The guns reported had many issues, one of which was the inability to stay together under the punishment of 38 +P and 357 magnum loads.

Another issue was the stainless alloy was overly soft and subject to malformation.

To the best of my knowledge the company only made these two models of revolvers with a couple of options on barrel lengths & hammer spurs. About 5000 were made before the company closed up shop.

The factory was a brick building in Little Ferry New Jersey, just a 1/2 block from the Hackensack River (31 Bergen Turnpike Little Ferry NJ)
