Visiting the Veteran's Memorial Museum

Happy Veteran's Day everyone! and too my Commonwealth allies.... Happy Remembrance Day!

Don't forget to fly the flag and thank those who have served!

When doing research for my Veteran's Day post last year regarding the Centralia Massacre, I visited the Veteran's Memorial Museum. So I thought it altogether fitting that I would share the pictures and info on Veteran's Day.

The museum is in the town of Chehalis (100 SW Veterans Way, Chehalis, WA 98532) which is the town that borders Centralia to the south. Centralia/Chehalis sit about 1/2 way between Seattle and Portland (84 miles south of Seattle, 90 miles north of Portland).

The museum is open all year, Tuesday thru Saturday 10am to 5pm, and open on Sundays from 1pm to 5pm from June through Labor Day.

Admission is $6 for adults, $5 for Veterans and Seniors, $4 for Students/Children (6 -18). Active Duty Military are always admitted free.

The tour is self guided, although the gentleman working the door that day did offer to answer any questions we had.

The collection of firearms is impressive for a small town museum. I inquired as to how many guns were on display, the answer given was that they had never counted them.
So I went ahead and counted them.... there were 223 firearms (working and replicas) on display that day, although I believe that the number may vary from time to time as many of the items are on loan.

Beyond the firearms are other war related items. Touring the displays will take a couple of hours and is well worth the time.
