April 15th, National Buy-A-Gun Day

Ronald Reagan once quipped "Republicans think everyday is the Fourth of July, but Democrats think everyday is April 15th." That says a lot about where the priorities lie.

It is that time of year again. Time to buy a gun for freedom.

I'm not sure who started the idea, but the guys at buyagunday.net have been promoting it for a few years now. Their motto is: "They tax, we reload".

The concept is that we all (well most of us) get some sort of tax refund before (or if you are late) after April 15th, the date all tax returns are due.

By using this money to buy a gun you are doing a few things: A investing in a form of durable goods that holds and even increases in its value

You will be helping to keep America safe and our Second Amendment rights solid.

You will also be supporting your local gun store, an industry that we all would like to see stick around.

So go out and buy that gun that you have been wanting....

Browning has been a supporter of buying guns during tax time (although I'm sure they support it all year long) by offering to rebate you some of the taxes you pay on a new Browning gun.

Incidentally there is another "Buy a Gun" day. July 9th is the anniversary of the UN's convention on "The Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons". You can celebrate your rights and thumb the nose at the UN by buying another "small arm".

Following the same idea, November 19th is National Buy Ammo day.
From the Ammo Day website: "The goal of National Ammo Day is to empty the ammunition from the shelves of your local gun store, sporting goods, or hardware store and put that ammunition in the hands of law-abiding citizens.  Make your support of the Second Amendment known—by voting with your dollars!

There are an estimated 75 MILLION gun owners in the United States of America.  If each gun owner or Second Amendment supporter buys 100 rounds of ammunition, that’s 7.5 BILLION rounds in the hands of law-abiding citizens!"

Of course with the ammo shortage we have been experiencing, the promotion hasn't gotten much traction.
